May 10, 2024: USA Cricket has appointed a three-member National Selection Panel for Women and Girls Cricket, effective as of April 18, 2024:
- Amer Afzaluddin as Chairman – 2 Year Term
- Kalyani Dhokarikar – 2 Year Term
- Marty Kain – 1 Year Term
The USA Cricket Board named an interim panel until the Women’s Cricket Committee was established. The new committee thoroughly assessed all applicants and conducted interviews of the eligible candidates before appointing the three members to the selection panel with fixed terms.
The former USA international, Mr. Amer Afzaluddin, has been a member of selection panels for USA Cricket and ICC Americas across the youth and senior setups. Mr. Marty Kain also represented the USA senior side between 2021 and 2022, and is an active domestic cricketer. Ms. Kalyani Dhokarikar represented India in eight One-Day Internationals and one Test Match from 1995 to 2000 before relocating to the USA.
Ms. Nadia Gruny, Chair of the Women’s Cricket Committee shared her thoughts on the appointment and said, “We believe that these new appointments are coming at the right time for our women and girls’ cricket teams. We believe that this panel, under the chairmanship of Amer, will do a fantastic job in taking Women’s and Girls’ cricket to unprecedented levels as they so deserve, and I wish Amer, Marty, and Kalyani all the very best for their tenure.”
