Fresh off the International Cricket’s Council’s (ICC) approval of USA Cricket as the ICC’s 105th Member, USA Cricket’s Board of Directors today announced the beginning of the search for the organization’s first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Given the importance of this hire, USA Cricket has engaged global leader Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to drive this process.

“The Board is excited to both begin this search and to have a partner like CAA lead the efforts,” said USA Cricket Board Chair Paraag Marathe. “CAA’s experience and expertise in this area will ensure we have access to the best and brightest talent available to fill this incredibly important role.”

Working with the U.S. cricket community under the leadership of the ICC USA Project, USA Cricket (USAC) was created over the last 18 months after the expulsion of the former National Federation. Once the Board was officially seated in August, the ICC started working with USAC on a transition plan to hand over all operations to USA Cricket. This search is yet another step in the transition to ensure USA Cricket is an independent and autonomous organization.

In parallel to the CEO search, USA Cricket announced the launch of a professional T20 cricket league in the United States. The CEO will play an instrumental role in the success of this new league.

CAA is recognized as the first talent agency to build a sports business and has led searches in every major sport worldwide. Given cricket’s global appeal, they are well positioned to lead this search. “We are thrilled to partner with USA Cricket, as they set forth on their ambitious plan to broaden awareness and interest in the sport of cricket across its growing fanbase,” said Asher Simons of CAA Executive Search. “We will work closely with the organization to find a commercially-minded CEO with an entrepreneurial spirit, who can further build upon the strategic direction set forth by the USA Cricket Board to accelerate the growth and visibility of cricket in the largely untapped U.S. market.”
