The USA Men’s National Team secured a commanding victory today over the UAE, triumphing by 136 runs in their final ODI of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) League 2 in Namibia. The win was bolstered by an impressive 155 not out from Milind Kumar off 110 deliveries, coupled with another match winning contribution of 107 runs off 99 balls from youngster Saiteja Mukkamalla.
With this win, the USA wrapped up their ODI campaign in Namibia with an unblemished record across four matches. The team is now set to focus on the forthcoming T20I series against both the host nation and the UAE, with aspirations to replicate their recent success.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the USA faced early setbacks with the loss of their in-form batsman Andries Gous and captain Monank Patel. However, this did not deter the confidence of the remaining USA batters, who were determined to dominate the UAE bowling attack in their final match of the series. A brisk innings from opener Smit Patel, who scored 48 runs off 58 balls, laid a solid foundation for Milind Kumar and Saiteja Mukkamalla who had a record-breaking partnership of 191 runs for the fourth wicket, enabling the USA to post a formidable total of 339 for 4.
In response, UAE’s top order struggled against seasoned bowler Saurabh Netravalkar, who delivered an outstanding performance with figures of 3-32 in his seven overs. Although UAE’s middle order attempted to repair the innings but could not withstand the pressure exerted by the USA’s bowling lineup. Nosthush Kenjige concluded with figures of 3-32 while Jasdeep Singh contributed with 2-51, helping restrict UAE to a mere total of 203 runs in 36.2 overs.
Milind Kumar, Player of the match, commented: “Our team is delighted to have wrapped up the series with another win. It has been a great team effort, and everyone played their part in the victory. I am also pleased with my maiden ODI hundred and hope to continue this form in our upcoming matches as well.”
Following six victories in their last eight ODIs, the USA currently occupies second place on the ICC CWC League 2 points table. USA will host upcoming CWC League 2 ODI matches in Dallas, Texas starting October 25th this year, where they are scheduled to face Nepal and Scotland.
